(More customer reviews)I bought this power supply to replace a dead power supply for my work field laptop. I have gone through 3 HP power supplies since I received this laptop 5 years ago and I have tried, multiple times with multiple brands, replacing them with cheap generic power supplies from Kensington and such. Generic power supplies seem to be able to power the laptop fine but have never been able to charge the battery, even with higher power ratings than the original power supply that came with the computer. So when my last power supply started beeping instead of powering the laptop, I had to get an HP power supply if I ever wanted to go untethered again, which is a requirement for about 50% of the work I do.
This power supply was ordered on Aug 12th (Thurs night) and showed up at my doorstep on Aug 16th (Mon) with expedited shipping. The package seemed unscathed from its ordeal. The power supply looks exactly like the picture.
I was skeptical that the part would be some kind of knockoff since it was so much cheaper (nearly 1/4 the price) than the equivalent available on HPs website but it came in an unopened HP box, had similar markings and tags as my old power supply, and most importantly, actually works (powers laptop and charges battery). It has worked great for the last month with it being used about 6 hours per day.

(More customer reviews)Went cheap and save a couple bucks but wished that I hadn't. The power supply is working fine. It charges the battery and doesn't seem flimsy otherwise. Had that been it I would have given it 4-5 stars after using it about a month. But I can't because it seems to cause noticeable interference with many things. I can't have a radio on the same side of the house. Speakers seem to pick up noise when it is near. Not the laptop speakers but my PC speakers. I wonder how much radiation I'm actually receiving from it.

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a replacement charger for my DV9000 when it died on me...but could only find knock offs with poor reviews for cheap. I really didn't want to spend a ton on a replacement, as most genuine parts cost 4x or more as generics. When I saw this one for a reasonable price...I went for it, and I was pleasantly surprised to see retail HP packaging. Not only that, but generics tend to run at 18.5v, rather than HPs unit, which is at 19v. The adapter works great and build quality seems fine. I would recommend to spend a little more and get this adapter, rather than a cheap Chinese generic model that has reliability and voltage issues.
UPDATE 04/02/2010 - Unit is still working without any issues.

(More customer reviews)I've had this charger for almost a month now. I bought this charger simply because the one that came with my laptop died, I was in finals week, and I needed something fast. While the product description states "manufactured by HP," I am almost 100% sure that this is a knock-off. It comes in a nice little box that isn't HP either. Many of my friends also own HP products and the difference between the real and not is clearly visible when you put them side by side. The plastic material of the adapter box is definitely different from a real HP one and it just looks more flimsy too. I guess you get what you pay for.
I have a HP pavilion dv6t laptop and the charger so far has been doing alright. I'd say this is a pretty satisfactory charger if not for two things:
1) There is a really loud, high-pitched "current" noise whenever it is charging the battery. It gets to be pretty annoying.
2) The connection joint between power box itself and the power cord is very loose. I've had my laptop die on me many times now only because the power cord came out form the adapter box. This too is somewhat of a nuisance as you have to basically leave the adapter box and power cord both on a flat surface with plenty of excess cord space on each side.
Also, on a (possibly) unrelated note, since I have started using this charger about, my battery manager has indicated that I need to replace my battery. I'm not sure if this is because of the new charger or the fact that my battery has finally approached the end of its lifespan, I'll leave that for you to decide.
Overall, I give this product a 3 stars because it get the job done: charge my laptop.

Like all car adaptors it involves a heavy, clunky transformer that frequently seems to get in the way but nobody out there seems to have a solution for that. All the plugs are tight fitting and tend to stay in place while in use. The length of the cords gives me some freedom of movement which I appreciate. It's a needed accessory which works.

1st. This damn thing gets HOTT!! you deffinatly dont want it laying on something you dont want burnt. I actually got it hot enough it shut down.
2nd. I like the blue ight on the end, makes it easy to find
3rd. its smaller, but when cords get wrapped around it, basically the same size
4th. It didnt catch on fire like the El Cheapo I got from Ebay! (Seller did refund my money plus shipping after i sent him pics)
I will be on the look out for an OEM Dell charger that just gets warm

(More customer reviews)The item arrived on time and was well packaged. It's almost identical to the original Dell charger and it says on top "replacement charger". The only minor point that I want to point out is that its power cord (from wall outlet) is too short when compared to the original. Since my original power cord was not damaged I used that and attached it to the replacement charger. All in all it's okay. No big deal...it works and it's cheap too! :)
