Lenmar Ready-2-Go R2GAA4 1.2V 2150mAh Rechargeable NiMH AA Battery (4 -Pack) Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)According to the product description of Lenmar Ready-2-Go R2GAA4 Rechargeable NiMH AA Battery, the Lenmar R2G cell is even better than the well-known SANYO eneloop, because:
1. It is "pre-charged and ready to use" just like eneloop,
2. It has a higher capacity of "2150mAh" (instead of just 2000mAh for eneloop), and
3. It "holds charge at 85% for a year" just like eneloop.
I purchased a set of those Lenmar R2G cells a few months ago, and analyzed them using my old La Crosse BC-900. Here are my findings:
1. When received, the average remaining charge in Lenmar R2G cells is only 800mAh, which is less than 40% of rated capacity. In contrast, all eneloop cells I have tested came with at least 70% of rated capacity - even those manufactured 22 months ago!
2. After several Discharge/Recharge cycles, the average capacity of Lenmar cells reached 2030mAh, which is below the rated 2150mAh. In contrast, most of my eneloop AA cells measured ABOVE rated capacity, close to 2100mAh instead.
3. The self-discharge rate is slightly worse than that of Sanyo eneloop. After sitting on the shelf for 100 days, average remaining charge in Lenmar cells is 85% of original capacity. After 170 days, it is at 79%. In contrast, all name-brand LSD cells I have tested (such as Sanyo eneloop and Rayovac Hybrid) can retain at least 85% after 5-6 months.
So the bottom line is: the Lenmar R2G cell is not bad as an off-brand pre-charged battery. But it does NOT offer higher capacity than Sanyo eneloop. Plus its self-discharge rate is faster. So unless you can find it at a substantial saving, I suggest staying with the tried-and-true Sanyo eneloop instead.

Recenetly I have tested the GP Recyko NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargable AA. They are rated at 2100mAh, but actually meassured around 2230mAh average. They can also be bought at lower cost than the Lenmar R2G cells.

The ready-to-go convenience of alkaline batteries plus the economy and high-performance of Nickel-Metal Hydride rechargeable, the R2G batteries are ready when you are - even straight out of the package. R2G batteries hold their charge up to 4X longer than standard NiMH rechargeable batteries. Perfect for both low and high-drain devices. And they work with any NiMH charger.Lenmar R2G vs. Standard NiMH RechargeableNickel-Metal Hydride batteries hit the market with a warm reception. Finally there were batteries they would last longer in high drain devices and you could recharge it over and over – no more going through 100s of batteries. There was, however one flaw in the design: NiMH batteries could not hold their charge for a long period of time. Out the package, the batteries needed to be charged and if you left them in your drawer for over a month, you would need to recharge them again before use. For this reason, many people still kept alkaline batteries around for emergencies and just plain convenience.Lenmar R2G batteries combine the best of both worlds! They are "Ready to Go” out of the package and have a shelf life of over 1 year. This means once you charge them up, they can sit in your drawer or device for a year and not lose their charge. Now anytime you need batteries, you will be Ready-2-Go.Included in the Box:Convenient carry Case
